The Indian Air Force has brought Air Force Schools across the country under a child digital safety initiative, with 261 teachers from 42 schools completing certification as Cyber Crime Intervention Officers. The programme, called ScrollControl, is being implemented through the Indian Air Force Educational & Cultural Society under the aegis of Air Headquarters.

The initiative was announced on 2 November 2026, during National Cyber Security Awareness Month. It is intended to strengthen the ability of Air Force schools to identify and respond to online risks affecting students, while promoting safer and more responsible use of digital platforms.

Teachers trained to address a range of online risks

According to the Ministry of Defence, the certified teachers will address several categories of cyber-related threats and harmful online activity. These include risks associated with online grooming and exploitation, as well as the misuse of artificial intelligence. The programme also covers dangers linked to online gaming and financial fraud.

  • 261 teachers have completed the certification;
  • the teachers represent 42 Air Force Schools;
  • the certified personnel will serve as Cyber Crime Intervention Officers within the school environment.

The training gives participating teachers a defined role in cyber awareness and preparedness across the IAF’s school network. The Ministry of Defence said the personnel will help address threats that can affect children through connected devices, online services and digital interactions.

Programme linked to wider cyber awareness effort

The rollout coincides with National Cyber Security Awareness Month and places child protection within the IAF’s broader effort to improve cyber awareness. Rather than limiting the focus to technical security, the programme also promotes responsible digital citizenship among students.

The Ministry of Defence said the initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening cyber awareness and preparedness among students. It said the programme reinforces the IAF’s commitment to safeguarding children in an increasingly connected world.

Air Force Schools form part of the educational network associated with the service, making the programme relevant to students, teachers and school communities across the country. The involvement of trained teachers is designed to give schools personnel who can respond to the specific online risks identified under ScrollControl and support safer digital conduct among students.

The initiative also reflects the expanding range of security concerns faced by organisations whose personnel and families rely on digital services. By covering grooming, exploitation, artificial intelligence misuse, gaming-related risks and financial fraud, the programme addresses both personal safety and the potential misuse of digital platforms.
