The Indian Army has flagged what it described as a coordinated social-media campaign aimed at discrediting the force and the Chief of the Army Staff. The material, circulated on 28 October 2026, allegedly claimed that Indian soldiers were being humiliated in Arunachal Pradesh while a video showed the Army Chief dancing in a nightclub.

The Army’s official fact-check account said the narrative relied on blurry visuals, AI-edited material and a misleading image overlay. According to the account, an image of the Army Chief had been placed alongside a deceptive caption to create an anti-Indian Army narrative. The Army did not identify the Chief of the Army Staff by name in its post.

“Coordinated Inauthentic Behaviour Exposed”

The post said the content was circulated by 10 social-media handles during a period running from 12:40 am to 8 am on 28 October 2026. The Army described the accounts as being Pakistan-based and alleged that their activity formed part of an organised effort rather than an isolated instance of misinformation.

Army urges verification before sharing

The accounts listed by the Army were:

  • @Keziabo2n
  • @Diksha_sharma03
  • @IndiaGenzzz
  • @ThokaReturns
  • @NilakshiRabhaIN
  • @BabaThokaIndia
  • @Clashfire_
  • @PatelKush51313
  • @khalsavision2
  • @NetaNamaX

The Army urged users to check the provenance of videos and images and to seek credible evidence before forwarding material online. Its warning comes as manipulated footage and synthetic media are increasingly used to attach false captions to military personnel, locations and events. In this case, the Army said the visuals had been altered or presented in a misleading manner; the allegation remains the Army’s official account of the incident.

The alleged campaign also attempted to connect the material with Arunachal Pradesh, a sensitive frontier region where India and China maintain competing territorial claims. By linking an unverified humiliation narrative involving troops to the Army’s senior leadership, the content sought to suggest a disconnect between frontline personnel and command. The Army’s fact-check did not report any underlying incident involving the alleged humiliation of soldiers.

The episode highlights the operational importance of verifying digital material in security reporting and public communication. The Army’s account asked social-media users not to amplify unverified claims, while identifying the use of AI-edited content and a manipulated image as central elements of the narrative. No independent confirmation of the allegations against the named handles was provided in the Army’s post.
