Campaign covers DRDO establishments nationwide
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has reported a 100 per cent completion rate for key targets under the sixth Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters, or SCDPM 6.0. The exercise is being implemented across DRDO headquarters, laboratories and regional establishments throughout the country.
Coordinated under the aegis of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the campaign is focused on reducing administrative pendency, speeding up the handling of public grievances, digitising historical records and reclaiming workspace. DRDO said the initiative has also covered Parliamentary Assurances and complex inter-ministerial references.
Records management and recycling
About 20,000 files identified for weeding out are being processed in accordance with record-retention schedules. The shredded paper from these files is being sent to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) for recycling, linking the records-disposal exercise with an environmental-management measure.
At the same time, approximately 5 lakh pages of historical records have been digitised. DRDO described the work as part of a transition towards a paper-lite administrative system, with the stated objectives of improving transparency and supporting long-term data security.
Workspace cleared at research and testing sites
The campaign has also extended to cleanliness and workspace-optimisation activities at DRDO campuses, residential quarters and specialised research testing ranges. Obsolete machinery, redundant furniture and accumulated scrap are being removed to create space for active operational requirements.
| Measure | Reported progress |
|---|---|
| Key campaign targets | 100 per cent completion |
| Files being disposed of | About 20,000 |
| Historical pages digitised | Approximately 5 lakh |
| Revenue from obsolete material and scrap | ₹35 lakh |
DRDO said the disposal of obsolete hardware and scrap has generated ₹35 lakh in revenue for the exchequer. The organisation has presented SCDPM 6.0 as an administrative-efficiency exercise that combines the clearance of pending matters with document preservation, recycling and the release of usable space at defence research establishments.
Key areas of the exercise
- Disposal of pending public grievances, Parliamentary Assurances and inter-ministerial references.
- Digitisation of historical records and systematic processing of files under retention rules.
