The Border Security Force (BSF) said it apprehended four Pakistani fishermen and seized a fishing boat after they were found inside Indian waters near Sir Creek in Gujarat’s Kutch district on 25 October 2026. The operation was carried out “acting on specific intelligence inputs”, the force said.
Operation and detainees
BSF personnel located and detained the men in the Sir Creek area on Sunday, the force said. The fishermen were identified by the BSF as:
- Kadir Thaimor
- Muhammad Mussa
- Azgar Thaimor
- Ahsan Jat
All four are residents of Chach Jaan Khan village in Pakistan’s Sindh province, the BSF provided. A Pakistani fishing boat was seized during the operation, the force added.
Strategic context
Sir Creek is a narrow, marshy tidal channel in the Rann of Kutch along the Gujarat–Sindh coast. The channel and its surrounding marshlands are a long-standing area of sensitivity because of a historical boundary dispute between India and Pakistan and the resulting complications in maritime demarcation. The shallow waters and tidal flows make navigation and border surveillance difficult, and routine fishing activity sometimes results in cross-border intrusions that are detected by security patrols.
What the BSF said
The BSF attributed the detention and seizure to specific intelligence inputs that guided its deployment in the area on 25 October 2026. The force described the detained men as engaged in “crab-catching” activities when they were found inside Indian waters.
