Srinagar, 9 July 2021: An Artificial Limb Fitment Camp was organized at Pharkian, Kupwara from 7-9 July 2021 by Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Jaipur in collaboration with Indian Army. Five types of medical aid namely Artificial Limbs, Wheel Chairs, Calipers, Crutches and Hearing Aids were distributed among the local people.
The camp consisted of identifying people with genuine requirement of medical aid equipment, setting up of artificial limb facility at Pharkian, molding and casting of limbs and customized fitting of the same on the recipients. Those individuals who were found to have polio related problems were checked in detail by medical officers and were fitted with calipers, crutches and provided with wheel chairs, based on the severity of their deformities.
Detailed hearing test was also conducted for hearing impaired to identify aids that could facilitate better hearing for the affected. The fitment camp helped 750 persons with disabilities. A total of 11 artificial limbs, 17 wheel chairs, 5 Calipers, 8 Crutches and 35 hearing aids were distributed during the event.
