To celebrate the commencement of 75th year of Independence, Headquarters Maharashtra Naval Area organised a ‘Freedom Cyclothon’ on the morning of 14 August 2021 at Mumbai.

75 Cyclists covered a cumulative distance of 75 Km to commemorate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The Motto of the event was- ‘Shaktya Dhairyamayati’- in Sanskrit meaning - from Strength comes Courage.

The event was flagged off by Rear Admiral Atul Anand, Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area (FOMA). The cyclists were divided into three strings of 25 men each covering alternate routes through the bustling streets of Mumbai city.

The cyclists rode past important places of the city chanting slogans of –‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ evoking patriotism in the local populace. The event was part of a series of events being organised to commemorate 75 years of India's independence.
